For those of you that are constantly looking for new data sources to enhance your sales and marketing analytic projects, check out the latest from Google. A search engine specific to data sources!

The tool searches for publicly available data sources on any topic that you can imagine.

  • Consumer demographics

  • Economic stats

  • Retail locations

  • Health, nutrition and population metrics

  • Climate and weather

  • Holidays

Simply enter your search term and Google will return links and a description of the available data sources. Most sources are available as Microsoft Excel zip files or flat file CSVs.

Here is an example that I used while looking up holidays for a sales forecasting and demand planning project I was working on.

You will find the various data sources in the first column. When you click on any data source, a more detailed description (with links to the data) can be found in the second column.

Hope this helps!
